Judy Judy Judy

I rented "What's Up, Doc?" over the weekend, based on the knowledge that it was partly an homage to "Bringing Up Baby," which is one of my favorite movies of all time.

This movie, however, while fairly amusing, I found to be kind of a letdown. I barely laughed at all, and my initial reaction to Barbra Streisand's character was that she more irritating than endearing, which shouldn't have surprised me very much, considering my decision to rent the movie was prompted by an article I read that described her as basically a cartoon without any believable motivation.

And yet, I came to the conclusion that she was actually pretty cute when she was younger, which is how I ended up drawing this caricature in spite of my ambivalent feelings towards the film itself.


EDIT (6/29/20):  I just rewatched this movie on TV and I think my first impression may have been too harsh.  It's ridiculous, but actually pretty entertaining/funny for the most part.  Also, while Barbra Streisand's character may fit the mold of an archetypal manic pixie dreamgirl, I wouldn't mind having someone like her chasing me around the way she does Ryan O'Neal in the movie.  Anyway, this ten year old caricature I did of her holds up pretty well, but it was bugging me that I saved it at such a low resolution, so I tracked down the original line art and recolored it.
