This is sort of an evolutionary chart of my oldest and dearest character, displaying many of the incarnations he's assumed since his inception. "What's his name?," you might be asking. Well, for a long time he was called Ralph, but I find that to be an overused name that makes me think of other characters, so he's been officially nameless for quite a while now. If you're wondering why this is his first appearance on DA, it's because I don't draw him that much anymore. As you can see, he's undergone a lot of changes over the years, and it might sound weird, since I'm the guy who created him, but he's reached a state where I actually find him difficult to draw.
In hindsight, it seems obvious to me that he was subconsciously inspired by Brain from Inspector Gadget. The first few times I drew him, he had fairly normal looking ears, but then for one particular drawing in which I wanted to give him a bit of a dignified bearing, I curled his ears slightly upwards. Afterwards, that became exaggerated in my mind as these ridiculously long ears that he needed to keep rolled up at the sides of his head so he wouldn't trip over them. That was a pretty unique look, but eventually his ears receded to a more manageable length, and then somehow he lost them altogether and his hair morphed into new, pointy ears.
I've gone through periods where I've tried basically ditching this guy as my "main character," but there's simply too much of a sentimental attachment. However, I just don't know what the hell I'm going to do with him.
